How do I shut off the start-up sound on my Sony VAIO laptop?

By Netbook Specialist • November 23, 2009 • Filed in: Sony Vaio Laptop

I’ve already comparison a "No Sounds" intrigue from a Sounds as well as Audio Devices symbol during a Control row though it still creates a receptive to advice at your convenience we pull a Power symbol to spin a laptop on. I’m referring to a start-up receptive to advice when we pull a Power button, not a Windows start-up receptive to advice which indicates a OS is loading. Unfortunately, my laptop doesn’t have an outmost volume carry out doorknob or switch.

There is no way to shut off those beeps and for safety’s sake you probably don’t want to. If your computer crashes and you have to call the manufacturer to trouble shoot it, they frequently ask you about the frequency of the beeps. For instance if your computer has had some failure it might beep two long beeps and two short beeps to indicate that the issue is the operating system. Sorry, it’s annoying, but it’s a safety feature and there for a reason.

There’s a speaker icon on the lower right of your screen. Turn the volume all the way down and you shouldn’t hear it anymore. Of course you’ll have to turn it back up if you want to listen to audio files.

You probably mean the BIOS beeps. You usually can’t shut them off, however you can turn off the I/O checks that set them off in BIOS. Unfortunately w/o the exact model number I can’t be more specific.
