Any cheap laptops around with Linux on them?

There are 4 suggestions to question “Any cheap laptops around with Linux on them?”

  1. A lot of netbooks have some kind of Linux with them (like Netbook remix, based on Ubuntu ). My Toshiba NB100 11R does. Or, you could try searching for a cheap laptop off ebay, say with 256mb of RAM that maybe will run Windows like a pile of crap, but will run a Linux kernel like a dream (remember it uses less resources!)

  2. Not many vendors sell systems with linux on them, you could find a computer shop that sells cheap computers without operating systems then put linux on it, just make sure to burn your cd first

  3. Dell has started shipping cheap laptops with Linux (ubuntu)

  4. To no avail i find only 1 choice if you want to buy it from dell…

It is a Dell Inspiron 15 with the specs below, for $514
    Intel® Pentium® Dual Core T4200 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/1MB cache)
Ubuntu Desktop Edition version 8.10 with 30 days of Starter support
Glossy, widescreen 15.6 inch display (1366×768) [LOW RES]
8X CD / DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive)
    3GB1 Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 800MHz
    250GB2 SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
    Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD
    High Definition Audio 2.0
    Dell Wireless 1397 802.11g Half Mini-Card
    4-cell battery
    Jet Black

HOWEVER my only statement is that they are shipping it with an older version of UBUNTU, UBUNTU is now at 9.04, soon to be 9.10. But if you get it you just have to click updates, and it will update itself most likely.
