I can open and edit word, excel and powerpoint files just by double-clicking on them (on the flash drive).
Mine is a 4gig as well, just the way it came out of the box, with linux.
The Asus Eee comes with OpenOffice, (Google that if you want) which can open and edit Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel files. OpenOffice is already installed on the default Linux OS, so you don’t need to install XP to use it.
