yes you can purchase on from tigerdirect.com or newegg.com
yes you can, go to newegg, com. it got the best prices in town woooooooooooooooo. basicly any laptop hd should fit.
short answer : Yes!
There are several online merchants selling 2.5" notebook hard drives just google your model number and hard drive and you should get a whole bunch.
I’d generally buy one from a local computer store where you could actually just have them install it for you — and so that it will be easier to return if there is a problem.
Alternately, you might want to consider just getting an external hard drive and move all your data to that. it will cost you about the same as getting an internal notebook drive and makes your data more portable. (not to mention forcing you into doing some housekeeping, while giving you more space)…
Cheers!
Hi Sandra,
The first thing to do is to see if you can clean up what disc space you already have. Ensure you have your Internet Explorer set to ‘empty temp files upon browser close’ [IE7/8: TOOLS/INT OPTIONS/ADVANCED/Tick (under Security Heading) EMPTY Temp Internet Files Folder when browser is closed.] Next go to PROGRAMMES/ACCESSORIES/SYSTEM TOOLS/SCHEDULED TASKS/ADD SCHEDULED TASK. Scroll down to DISK CLEANUP and then select a DAILY or WEEKLY CLEAN. Next RIGHT CLICK your RECYCLE BIN and select PROPERTIES and select: Use one setting for all drive’: ‘Do not move files to Recycle Bin and Remove files immediately when deleted. This will free up Hard Drive space wasted on rubbish! See what capacity you now have left.
Then decide what Music and Pictures you have that you REALLY don’t need on your Hard Drive and move them to removable media (e.g a USB external hard drive or DVD). Also go through the software programmes you have installed and ask yourself which ones you never use (CONTROL PANEL/ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMMES) – the box will tell you when you last used anything! BE BRUTAL!
Now – if after all this, you defragment your hard drive (PROGRAM/ACCESSORIES/SYSTEM TOOLS/DEFRAGMENTER)
and find that you STILL haven’t enough space, THEN you can find out from your manufacturer what the max size of hard drive upgrade your PC will support (this depends on the motherboard’s capacity and the physical size of HD your laptop can take). If you want to change it /upgrade it, it won’t be cheap – usually up to half the price of the laptop! You will also need to buy a clone Hard Drive Program like Acronis to copy your existing hard drive contents exactly onto the new drive.
So – you can see that there is a lot that you can do now to increase your free Hard Drive space. You need a good 20GBs to work with – and can actually dump most of the high-capacity files like movie clips/music/pictures to a USB external hard drive easily enough and still have them available when you want.
Hope this all gives you something to do to ‘clean up’ your Hard Drive and make the choices that suit your lifestyle!
Best regards,
Oracle
