Does removing the hard drive from my Acer Aspire One netbook void the warranty?

My netbook is not booting as well as I’m promulgation it to Acer for a tough expostulate replacement. I’d similar to to collect my interpretation from a HDD prior to we send it to them. Does stealing a HDD blank my bureau warranty? we consider I’m safe, though we longed for to have sure.

    Suggestions:
  1. You can remove it. There’s nothing that voids the warranty by doing so. Just don’t take the hard disk apart. ;-)

  2. First, Acer tech support probably misdignosed your issue so you would be smart to back up your drive before you send it in. If you stick it in someone elses computer and it works, then they DID misdiagnose it. ALL tech support is bad nowdays, but Acer/eMachines/Gateway takes the cake! I would bet your issue is with the motherboard or even more likely, the way the bios is set up. WHat were the symptoms, what was the error code on your screen? Maybe we can help you and save you the money that a HD data recovery would cost and the time to ship it back to A/e/G.

Dell, HP, Compaq, Lennovo DO let you remove the drive. A/e/G would NOT let me remove my niece’s drive a few years ago. Even though she had a bad power supply, they made her send in her whole computer and sure enough, when they returned it, it was banged up and had a new hard drive with none of her programs and data. (I suspect it was a refurbed model).
The support rules might have changed so they will be similar to the better brands, but I would call Acer and have it on record that you are going to remove the drive.

If you need data recovery, Data Doctors, datarecoverylabs.com and drivesavers are all reputable companies.
