My mother only got a HP mini netbook (from verizon) . we can’t find anything to get to a cam, as well as upon MSN a cam idol comes up, though we can’t get a cam to work, only a mic . So I’m not unequivocally as well certain what to do .

Does it show up in your devices? If it doesn’t you may have to install some drivers to get it to work properly, if that still doesn’t fix it they may have forgotten to connect it to the motherboard.
If all else fails call HP and ask.
Did you select the webcam as the active video input device in MSN?
Also try using a different chat program, sometimes the webcam and the chat program are simply not working together.
