be sure you know what you're asking.
wifi and wireless internet are 2 different things. wifi is for wireless network which can get you to an internet connection, wirelessly.
wireless internet is a service and a piece of hardware (a usb dongle or a pcmcia card) you get from your cell phone provider and can run on any machine i can think of after windows 2k.

the thing is, if the laptop doesn't have these things on it, you can go to the local computer store or box store and ask for the product which will do what you want. if you're trying to connect to your network at home and work and the coffee store, you only need wifi and you can get it in the form od the same kind of usb dongle for about %25-%50 depending on the quality you want/need. if you want to be able to connect to the internet anywhere there is anything resembling any kind of service, you are talking about wireless internet and the cost is usually $60-$100/mo and some need you to buy the part, between $15-$150 for the dongle as well as a 2 year contract.
