How do I set up a reformatted sony vaio laptop?

Do we need to reinstall any additional stuff? Like drives as well as soundcards as well as videocards? How do we do all that?

    Suggestions:
  1. When you ordered your laptop, they should have sent you all the software and operating system CD’s that were installed already. If they did not, then you are basically out of luck and will need to buy them, but lets suppose they did and you are running windows XP.

If you reformatted it, it is clean and the HDD is blank with nothing on it. Turn the computer on and enter your BIOS. It may be you need to hit Delete, F5, F8, or any other button. It will say at startup something like "F8 to enter setup" or "Del to enter BIOS" or something along those lines.

Once you are here, you need to change your boot order. It will vary how to get there depending on your motherboard, but once you find it, change itt o boot from the CD first. Insert the windows XP CD now. Then, save settings and restart. It will go through a bootup and then prompt you to "Boot from CD…" Hit any button to do so and once it goes through it’s thing, tell it do set up a windows installation on the C Drive.

    Now just let windows install.

Once it is done and windows retarts, go back into BIOS and tell it to boot from HDD again and not the CD. Remove the windows CD and save changes and exit BIOS. It will retart and load windows and get everything how you like it once windows starts up. From here, it is all up to you. You will need to reinstall drivers and software for any hardware or programs that you want or need. Just input 1 CD at a time and get it set back up. It will take some time, but it is fairly simple.

I wish you luck and if you need more help, feel free to msg or e-mail me.

  2. nah, just delete your system32 folder and reboot. you should have a fresh new vaio after that
