How to have my netbook faster?
I own the tiny netbook, Acer Aspire One, it has 1GB RAM, Intel Atom Processor, as well as 9″ screen.
I am starting to buy an ASUS laptop by Christmas, as well as given my tangible netbook is damn slow, we wish to see what can have it “less slow”.
I am saving up for the laptop, so shopping mental recall sticks is not an option.

Buying mental recall sticks is not an option? Well, that’s as well bad, since that’s about the usually choice we had. RAM is cheap. You can get the 2GB hang for $ twenty or so. Buy it or live with what we have. That or toss the lightweight Linux distro upon it.

You could try to downgrade it to Win XP if you have win Vista/7 installed. That would speed it up. I assume that SSD is not an option as well
I am assuming you have adequate anti-virus and have installed all applicable updates from Microsoft.
Aside from RAM, 2 other things slow down a computer: inadequate HD free space (should be at least 20%) and too many unnecessary programs in the startup group that run continuously and use resources.
Press Win key-E and right click on C drive and select Properties. You will see a pie chart of your free space. When your pc runs out of RAM it starts to use free space on HD for temp storage.
Install WinPatrol free version. It’s easier to use than msconfig. Google programs here to see their function and if they can be disabled. If you see printer drivers or Acrobat Reader here, they can be disabled. They will still be on your computer able to run when needed. They just wont run all the time.
Also run CCleaner and Super AntiSpyware. Both are free and effective.
I’ve found that “down-grading” to XP doesn’t always work.
Sometimes the drivers simply don’t exsist
other times there are compatibility issues with hardware
and once you’ve removed windows7 you’ve essentially ruined some computers
Especially since in most cases windows XP doesn’t actually run any faster than Windows7
frankly I LOVE people who try downgrading, because often they pay me to fix it afterwards
Not quite as often I get the computer as “junk” and I fix it for free and either keep it,
sell it or trade it for something else I want.
Watching a friend that insisted that I must have “done it wrong” (when personally attempting to replace Vista on my Dell 1525 several years ago) trying (and repeatedly failing)
to make XP work on that computer was almost as much fun as watching a troop of monkeys
trying to fornicate with a football.
the simple fact was that on that particular collection of hardware while XP technically “worked”
you could either make the internal WiFi OR the sound work work, but not both at the same time
(Windows 7 installed fine and I love it)
But that is but a single example, I’m sure there are other examples…
“Speed up” an exsisting computer generally requires hardware changes.
Faster CPU, More memory or larger faster storage drive.
