What have been a little things we should cruise adding on. (ie: additional memory, i’work 08, Final Cut Express, a printer, .mac, as well as a applecare insurance plan)
If we have a macbook, would we suggest any of a specifications?
There are 2 suggestions to question “I plan on purchasing a MacBook?”
I’d get an external USB drive for backups.
It really depends entirely on what you’re using it for.
If it’s for school work, like papers and such, I doubt you’d need much more than is installed. Unless Microsoft Office is especially important to you. Although, I’d recommend OpenOffice more than Microsoft. It’s a bit more involved to install it on a Mac, though. But cheaper (free). I’d be hesitnat about iWord 08 in general.
If you’re gonna do major video editing (which is what I do with mine), I’d recommend getting as much processing power/memory as you can afford (reasonably). Video is a resource hog. In fact, if you’re really serious about video editing, I wouldn’t suggest anything below a MacBook Pro but that’s just me.
If you only want to do casual editing, the iLife suite has a basic video editor, so I wouldn’t suggest Final Cut Express. At least, not as a starter.
Really, like I said, it all has to do with what you need it for. If you need a printer, get a printer. If the .mac whatever thing (I haven’t looked much into it) sounds like something you’ll use, get it.
