Microsoft's User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack was installed as an update & is a component of Windows Media Player 11 required to interact with Zunes and other peripherals.
It co-insides with Windows Media Format 11 Runtime. If you do not have Windows Media Player 11 or are using an earlier version or want to roll back to a previous version, i know for sure that you don't need this, but personally, i don't think removing it will effect you at all...I have had no effects from removing it myself.......I have two computers..both running windows xp home edition & both with IE 8 & one has User-Mode Driver Feature Pack installed & the other i removed it from...for months now & i noticed no changes, therefore i do not think it will harm you if you remove it, although then again, you of course could have a program that needs it.
I do not use Zune but i DO use Windows Media Player 11 as well as Napster & Rhapsody...on the computer without it & again have had no issues since removing it. My WMP 11 works fine.
And in all honesty,If you remove it & experience an issue you can easily reinstall if from Microsoft's website. Its NOT something that will prevent your Windows system from running nor will it make it crash & it wont effect Internet Explorer.
In doing a little quick research...i came across this

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929358

it gives someone instructions for removing and reinstalling Zune & it tells them to REMOVE this from their add/remove programs. Copy & Paste the above link & read there if you want..but you can also do a google search & put in "ok to delete Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.0 ?" & after poking around you should get some solid answers that fit to you're needs.
Again,I know that it was installed as a Windows Update, so at some point your'e computer was running without it. The Un-install String is "C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallWudf01000$\spuninst\spuninst.exe"

I hope something here helps you!!!!

Good Luck & ENJOY!!
