There are 5 suggestions to question “macbook air or dell mini 12?”
I would prefer the MacBook
Not only is it thinner, but it is also a Mac, which run much more smoothly than PCs
Macbook air…not good! You can’t even insert a disc in them. Not worth the money. I don’t know about the dell mini, but I would probably get that instead.
By the way, if you are looking for a light computer, the plain regular macbook is great! It’s light and works really well. I have it now for college and I can take it everywhere.
Im a huge mac fan but I have heard some bad reviews from it. If you got the money, you can’t beat a Apple product but if you want something just to get u around and cheaper go with a PC. it really matters what you are going to use the computer for and how long you want it to last/retain value.
MacBook Air would be the better bet – especially with the iPhone.
The MBA doesn’t need a CD drive because you wirelessly transfer files from another computer to your MBA.

Macs run Microsoft Office:mac
or
iWork08 from Apple which works with MS office
All Macs can also run Windows with Bootcamp, VMware or Parallels which contrary to some opinions DOESN’T run Windows slowly.
You can also develop apps for the Mac or iPhone with the iPhone SDK
Or you can download OpenOffice3.0 which is native to Mac and FREE
- it works with MS Office too.
All Macs come with iLife08
PhotoBooth and Garage Band and Safari web browser.
There is also HEAPs of FREE stuff for Mac
i wud not buy mac air.
it only has 2 ports 1 of them a usb
sound quality is crap cos of mono speaker
non user-replaceable battery
no ethernet port – might be a problem if u dont hv wireless
if u like macs and not windows get a regular macbook or macbook pro or a modbook if u want a touchscreen mac.
if u want something thin (with better specs than mac air) get voodoo envy 133. its thinner than mac air. mac air is 0.76″ and voodoo is 0.7″ with a v nice design, carbon fiber customizable chasis – v high quality build, replaceable battery, multi-touch trackpad, 2 usb ports 1 of which is also an hdmi port, instant on IOS (boots linux in 4-7 secs while vista boots in backround and u can surf web and do most of that stuff while windows boots up), sensors to adjust screen brightness, detect when ur hand is over keyboard to turn on backlight of keyboard, also wen ur hand is over the keyboard the trackpad locks so if u accidently touch it nothing happens, an ethernet port built into the power adapter (because thin laptops cant hv it, it creates a wireless signal and all laptop within range can conect to it – practical), comes with external cd drive, sound quality is v gud, and of course since they r rare to find – u stand out from the crowd.
if u want slightly better specs and long battery life (7.5-10hr) get Lenovo ThinkPad X300. has gps and an optical drive. it does look uglier than mac air and voodoo tho. its not as thin (0.92″-0.73″ i think)
dont get dell mini-there r several windows laptops out there that can do what it does and more. i wud prefer a mac air to a dell mini.
personally my favorite thin laptop is voodoo (starting price: $1899 includes external cd drive and ethernet port in power adapter)
macbook air (starting price) + optical drive + ethernet adapter = $1927 so if u do need an optical drive and an ethernet port, the voodoo is better value for money (also the ethernet adapter must connect to the only available usb port for it to work)
