What exactly is the problem with your current settings? If you want nothing on it except XP like from the factory, then you can reformat your drive and then reinstall XP. You will need to back up the files you want to keep on an external drive or another partition.
If the recovery partition has been removed (a "hidden" area on your hard drive), then you won’t have any source of information to restore it to the Acer’s factory installation. You don’t need that, just reinstall XP. Most devices will probably install fine, but you might need to get the proper video and wireless or network drivers.
If you have your xp disc and serial number, just put the disc in the drive, restart and press any key to boot from cd, when the prompt comes on the screen. Follow the easy instructions to format and reinstall.
If you have serial, but no disc, you could borrow a disc, just make sure it`s the same xp pro/home/etc.
Back up anything you need first, to flash drive, dvd or other media.
I would suggest you download drivermax first, it`s free, export your drivers with this and copy to a cd, then you will have a driver disc ready to reinstall any lost ones, it saves having to search the internet for audio drivers etc.
Go to the aspire one forum and look up eRecovery. They have an ACER address there where you can download the recovery for the Aspire One. You can also get ACER to send you a recovery disk.
