  2. you should take this question to the ubuntu forums. every question ever asked about ubuntu is on there. i had this problem with verizon wiresless internet with ubuntu, but after i installed the newest version of ubuntu (9.04) it worked fine. if you already have that version though try the forums and be prepared to put some time into it.

  3. Hi There,

Evidently Ubuntu does not have a driver for your wireless card.
I have tried several distros of Linux and some of the worked with my wireless card (It’s a Blitz wireless B and that company is out of business) and most did not.

You can do a search on Ubuntu’s forums for a solution, they are very helpful. You can also search Ubuntu for compatible wireless cards.

It is possible to use ndiswrapper to load and use your Windows driver for your card. I have tried to do that with no success but it was probably my fault since I am not good at using the command line (terminal in LInux).

However I would suggest you try Linux MInt 7 Main Edition. It is based upon Linux 9.04 and uses the same programs. Mint does have more drivers included and has a better (in my opinion) desktop.

Presently I am using Ubuntu 9.04 and Linux Mint 7 Main Edition "Gloria" and I like them both but Mint is better for me.

I would download the Mint ISO image and burn it to a CD to make a "Live CD". You can boot from the live CD (it runs entirely in RAM) and that allows you to check out your compatability with the wireless card and other hardware.

You also can try live cds of other distributions to find out which have the necessary drivers for your wireless.

I would suggest you try the following:
You can do a Google search for the url
1..Linux Mint 7 Main Edition "Gloria"
    2..Ubuntu 9.04
    3..Mandriva
    4..Fedora
    5..Open SUSE 11.0

Surely one of them will turn on your wireless.

Hope this gives you some options,
    Al
