There are 5 suggestions to question “need help with choosing the right laptop for me?”

  1. yes that should be fine as long as it dose’t run vista. XP i best. if the 160 gb hard drive isn’t enough (which it should be) you can buy portable usb hardrive which only cost around 80 dollars and it will double you harddrive space

  2. i personaly am a mac person so i would go with a macbook or macbook pro because they have a lot of memory, are fast, and can store a lot of pictures. also, to keep in mind about 400-500 pictures= 1 GB.( this depends on the quality of the pictures you take)

  3. I wouldn’t buy anything below 2GB of ram and even this would be minimum of minimum. but if you are not looking to spend to much this might be the option and if it turns out to be too slow you can always upgrade your ram.

  4. I would go for minimum 2Gb Ram and 250 Gb hard drive. The higher the better because new programs and new softwares coming out will be taking up a lot of space and requiring more memory to process especially when you want it to handle quite a few pictures.
Having said that, there is no need to go too large in capacity. You cannot future proof computers because new technology comes out every 2 -3 months. By then, your computer, indirectly, is becoming obsolete. After a year or so, you may probably want to upgrade it to keep up.

  5. Just for your requirement right now, the harddisk size is more than enough. If u have more pics, u can always save them to a cd.
And for your requirement the 1 GB ram also is good enough for right now. But with time u will realize that you be better of if u would have gotten 2 gb ram. I got a pc 5 years back and it was having everything more than the latest at that time, and now the memory and hd size it has is not enough for the latest softwares.
So when u r buying a new laptop, try to get it with the best things so that it lasts good and fast for a longer period.
Also I do agree with the other user with selecting XP over vista, because vista is a bit slower . I have used both and this is my personal experience.

I never used mac, so i cannot really comment on that.
