I creatively preffered a Acer; it is additionally somewhat cheaper! we cannot be worried with Linux, so greatfully do not indicate that.

ASUS make better build quality machines and have won more awards and use better graphic cards. I have an ASUS Z7000 and it is excellent build quality.
Also, go for a LINUX installation, not a Windows one as it will make the machine faster.

I own an Acer Aspire One A150 laptop, running Linux. So far, the computer is great. If you buy the linux version, it is pretty much simplified but there are web sites telling you how to unlock the version of Linux so you can do more. Connecting to another computer (file sharing) or installing a 3G card isn’t as easy in Linux compared with Windows XP. If you prefer the familiarity of Windows XP then you can pay slightly extra and buy an A150 with Windows XP.
The laptop itself is small, and I purchased it for its small size – to act as a second laptop.
I can’t comment on the ASUS Eee PC 901 as I’ve never used one.
