Its just a question of popularity. People might compare iPod colours but who compares the colour of computers? Also, its harder to create different coloured computers than only having one colour because you have the build the assembly line is a way that it separates when adding the outer layer.
It does seem strange that the same company that changed the dull-white computer into a colorful art would be so conservative now (remember the original iMac?) but I think it has to do with Apple trying to present themselves as a premier product (which they aren’t, btw). Simply put, candy red doesn’t really scream "professional"
